The Red Cat Coffee House

With an open floor plan, exposed brick walls, and large windows, the Red Cat Coffee House has a chic atmosphere. It serves a number of specialty lattes, cold brews, smoothies, and teas. It also has a number of breakfast options, such as stone-ground grits, breakfast burritos, bagels, and avocado toast. For lunch, it serves deli sandwiches, hot paninis, wraps, and salads. They also have live music and art displays from time to time. Plus, you can rent their space for parties and other events.

There are three Red Cat Coffee shops in Birmingham: the one at Pepper Place is located less than three miles away from the Union at Cooper Hill. It's open from Monday to Saturday, 7 a.m.—6 p.m.

Filter Coffee Parlor

Located in the heart of Birmingham, at 1927 11th Avenue South, the Filter Coffee Parlor is open Monday—Friday, 7 a.m.—4 p.m. and 8 a.m.—3 p.m. on Saturdays.

It has a varied menu with several different tea, chai, matcha, and specialty coffees. You can also opt for a bean of your choice from anywhere in the world. They have beans from the Americas, Africa, Arabia, and Indonesia. Additionally, you can also get a bite to eat; they serve quiches, sandwiches, bagel stacks, etc.

Seeds Coffee Co.

Located at 174 Oxmoor Road, Seeds Coffee Co. is open Monday—Friday, 7 a.m.–3 p.m. and Saturdays 8 a.m.—3 p.m. It has a rustic, industrial atmosphere and serves fair-trade coffee. They serve a number of coffee drinks, such as cappuccinos and flavored lattes. They also have different types of teas.

There's a pretty extensive breakfast menu at Seeds Coffee Co., with biscuits, plates, and breakfast bowls. If you're in the mood for something more hearty, you can get the sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit. If you want something lighter, you can opt for the yogurt and granola bowl.

Cala Coffee

Located downtown, at 1826 3rd Avenue, Cala Coffee is a bright, cheery coffee shop in the theater district, located close to the Alabama Theater and the Lyric Theater. It's open Monday through Saturday, from 7 a.m.—4 p.m. and on Sundays from 8 a.m.—3 p.m.

In addition to the classic coffee drinks, such as cappuccinos and lattes, they also serve specialty drinks, such as the honey-cinnamon latte and the maple-sea salt latte. They also have chai lattes, matcha lattes, breakfast tacos, and pastries.

Santos Coffee Uptown

Santos Coffee Uptown is actually located at 2221 Richard Arrington Junior Boulevard North and open from 6:30 a.m.—5 p.m. every day. This coffee shop has an exposed brick interior with interesting artwork.

Their most popular items include lattes, café caramel, and cold brews. They also serve a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich, sweet crepes filled with Nutella and savory bowls with rice, beans, arugula, pico, avocado, cheese, egg and your choice of meat. Whether you're craving sweet or savory, Santos coffee has something for you.

Bandido Coffee Parlor

If you're looking for some unique coffees, you might want to try the Bandido Coffee Parlor located at 1024 20th Street and open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day except Sunday.

Here, you'll find the Mazapan latte, inspired by Mexican candy; the Chocolate Abuelita, with espresso, cinnamon, and cocoa; the Horchota, made with rice milk; and the Cajeta, made with goat's milk. Of course, you can still get your usual espressos, lattes, and Americanos. But in case you're interested in trying something new, this is the place to go.
